Print Quality of HP inkjets

I was just wondering how HP inkjets compare in print quality to prints done by a professional lab (I have used Gunns and various online sites up to now).

I got access to print on HP inkjets for free and not quite sure if I should go down this route or if the quality will be too bad (especially in how long the prints will last before they fade).

it kinda depends on which one of the hp inks you mean

some of them are quite good, and have quite good lightfastness figures, but the compromise is a slightly smaller colour gamut
