    Hi y'all,
Looking at upgrading my ancient clubs and have been offered a nearly new set of Mizuno Mx19's irons, graphite shafts. Anyone used these and could offer some comments? Should I go for graphite? Any idea how old they are and what sort of current price they would be? Offered to me for 200. Is this good value. Thanks in advance

why do you want/need graphite ?

surely if they are nearly new you should be able to play 2-3 rounds to try them out

    thanks ss,
can't get to see/use them til the weekend as he's away, just wondering what the difference will be with graphite shafts as I've only used steel ones and wondering if I'm getting value for money.

    Hey,

I hit these this morning in the driving range as i had a loan of these clubs to test out the +1 inch in the shaft size. I found them brilliant i must say, if only i could afford them at the moment, im looking into buying a set of wilson deep reds. Very forgiving, took very little time to get used to and the long irons are particulary good, with me being honest im not great with the long irons, but i struck the 4 and 5 iron lovely today straight as an arrow. they are fairly heavy particularly the long irons but that suits me. overall i was very impressed. one thing i did notice was that i lost a wee bit of distance in the higher irons (5-10 yards), however i could deal with that and adjust

by the way, i was reading reviews on them last night and they seem to echo what i think of them if u want to have a look. hope ive been of help

by the way, mine were steel shafts

The MX19 came out in 2007 I think.
If they are in good condition €200 would be a fair price, you aren't getting ripped off.
The graphite shafts will be lighter, and you need to make sure that they are in a flex that will suit you. If I were you I would definitely like to play a round with them before making a decision.

Got them new last year +1" for i think 300 notes. Im off 19 and they are good at that level. Not sure about graphite shafts though....you may swing to quick for them....

generally graphite shafts in irons will be for the weaker(in strength) golfer, normally older men or ladies now they might suit you and some are stiff like steel but i'd be guessing about 90% of men under 55 would use steel shafts

might be why they are being moved on

Shame their not steel shafts, you'd benefit better in the long run. Scott Verplank was one of the few pro's who used graphite shafts in his irons, but I can guarantee they were probably a way higher spec than what we would be accustomed to.
Graphite may limit your game in the long term, maybe look at a set of Mizuno's with steel shafts instead.
