Birthday reminders?

What apps do people use for birthday reminders?

I bought Special Day, but I'm not happy with it - in theory you're able to download Remind Me for free and it will pop up reminders of people's birthdays, but in practice Remind Me won't work for me, and the developer hasn't answered any requests for help.

It would be good to find something that actually did pop up a reminder a few days before a birthday or anniversary.

If you have MS Office, you could set up your Outlook calendar and then just sync it to iPhone.

You don't even need MS Office.
Just put peoples' birthdays directly into your calender app.

I use Google calendar. The iphone calendar app will sync with it over the air.

You can also set Google calender to automatically text you reminders.
