Can anybody recommend a good headlight/headlamp you could wear for doing medical cover at night time. It would be handy at concert venues. I seen a few in the Argos Catalogue but don't want to get one too bright or too dark. I wouldn't want to blind the patient either.

    Any advice would much appreciated.

I don't find the need for one of these personally tbh.

However, you shouldn't be on your own if you're providing medical cover @ oxegen etc, you should be in pairs, for the interest of yours and the pt's safety. Carry a D-cell Mag on your belt and then put a mini mag in your scissors pouch, coupled with your penlight it's all the light you might ever need in a situation.

If it is the case where the event is a gathering big enough to be requiring medical cover then lighting should be provided. I know there is problems sometimes in the case of generators breaking down etc but if it comes down to it you shouldn't have to provide it yourself and pay for it.
There are some good lamps that you can buy from same catalogue that I haven't used myself but I can imagine it would light up the immediate area around the pt in question.

    e.g. http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/3400944/Trail/searchtext%3EENERGIZER.htm

That has a feature on it that I believe it can direct some of it's LED's away from directly in front of you , for the case of having a gear bag beside you and needing to see where things are at all times etc.

Petzl make a great range of headlights. Lightweight, reliable, LED's, etc. Take a look at the "E+Lite" model, http://www.petzl-head-torches.co.uk/ small enough to carry in a breast pocket, c/w with a protective case, intrinsically safe?? , a red LED bulb to preserve night vision, lots of other features. Ticks all the boxes. Any of the outdoor shops in Galway stock Petzl equipment.

The Enegiser ones are decent enough.

Depending on budget and how often you want to use it for Petzl are well worth a look at.

If its for occasional use the Enegiser are good enough. off the top of my head they have a full beam/Wide light/Both on together/ and an option of red. Each time you wan to use the light you cycle though all of these options.

If your looking for the best, go for Petzl. They cant be bea. Long lasting, waterproof, durable and energy efficent. I use Petzlfor cliff climbing/hill walking and find them great. Any model will do, but as said about the new E is a nice one.
