Hi all will be staying here ----> http://pininthemap.com/670d13e1966696d0e for a week. I was just wondering if anyone knows any fields that might be suitable for running on near here. I have found one place that might be suitable Fossa GAA pitch but not sure can you run there. Someone with local knowledge might know.....

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi Beano-lawd
The new GAA pitch has gates- sometimes locked, but usually open. I'm not sure how picky they are on running there. There's another pitch just across from the Cathedral in town on the left heading out that is open- it's just over a footbridge across the river, or there's the old Fossa GAA pitch on the L just past the dingle turn off (before Lackabane village)- definitely see some people running here and no gate. This one is closest to where you'd be staying.
The tracks in the national park are all tarmac and it's not much fun running on the grass beside them- lots of animal hoofmarks and pretty unpredictable. But if you didn't mind a roadrun I'd head in there- loads of loops from 2-10km or longer and no traffic +great scenery. There's a gravel track into town from Fossa that starts just across from the old pitch called the Fossa way (it's signposted). It links up with the national park tracks.

    Hope that helps.
Best part of the country of course!
