Racer for kids ?

Anyone know where you can get/recommend a good road bike for a kid 12-13 that would be better for him touring on holidays than his mountain bike?
Seems the market is all mtb at the moment unless you're paying serious money?

Whats serious money? I don't actually know much but when I was in slanecycles in belfast they had some bikes for 12-13 year olds. www.slanecycles.com

You should also call cycling Ireland and see what the recommend as they probably get a good few questions like this from juniors.

How tall is your 12 years old. I am asking because i was 4.4ft at 12 ... hehe.

The smallest proper adult racers start with frame at 42 for Giant, 43 for trek. For a 5 foot person with 700cc wheels.

The junior racers really look great especially that felt that looks 'deadly'

I'd spotted that one on Wiggle, and yes I do think that is serious money for a kid's bike that they'll grow out of!
Mind you the Slanes ones look more four-figure than three!
LBS aren't great for selection on 24" road bikes - most of the websites don't go to that early teenage market as well as they do for the Under 10s

Have you contacted the like of Joe Daly for example, there are a good few Juniors on the Clubs ( orwell has loads ) they might have a few of 2nd hand kids racers.

Don't show Tiny... he hates it when Lance looks human. That is truly awesome. I can't imagine the joy if my son and I, he only 6 months, were climbing a big climb and that happened....... maybe one day...
