    Hey all

Tried searching but couldn't find anything on my problem.

So my problem is that I have a dead xps m1330 ) Its completly fried, wont even turn on and my new sims 3 disc is stuck in the cd slot:(. It's a slot loading dvd drive and I haven't a clue how to get the disk out manually.

My replacement is due tomorrow and I would like to retreive it without any damage to the disc or laptop. Any idea's?

    .

have you checked if there is a small pin-hole on the door of the dvd-drive
Normally you can stick a small pin in and the door should pop open manually?

Not if it's a slot loading drive;)
It might sound silly but have you tried turing the laptop sideways and giving it a shake? It worked for me before, it did take a while though...

    Sorry missed that part :o
but yes with a bit of luck and a bit of a shake, it might fall out.

I'm willing to try anyting at this point lol. I gave it a good shake just there (out of breath now :p) but it doesn't seem to be budging.

As far as I know, there is no user mechanism for getting a stuck disc out of one of those slot-load drives.

So the only way you'll get it out is luck or brute force (shaking, poking something inside there etc :pac:)

    Good luck ;)

Brute force is right :D! I ended up dismantling the whole thing in order to remove the drive and get my disc out. :o Thanks for the ideas guys.
