    Hi there,

I bought a second hand 3G iPhone today. I did a master reset on it and now when I try and switch it on, all that is coming up is the Apple Logo and that's as far as it will go.

Can ANYONE help me on how to fix this?

    Thanks

Thanks but thats not quite what I was looking for. It was working perfectly but i did a complete reset and now all that happens is the apple logo comes up for ages, then the little circle comes up just underneath like its trying to do something and then the screen goes blank for a second only for the process to start again. I'm after forking out 360 euro for it I'm hoping it's fixable.

Google "dfu mode". Don't panic, you should be able to fix it.

Also, see if you can restore it from iTunes.

Thanks for the help but itunes wont recognise it because it wont completely switch on. It keeps trying to but not quite getting there. I'm wondering should I just send it back to apple for them to fix. Anyone know roughly how much that would set me back?

If you are in Dublin, bring it in to the apple store opp Trinity. They will sort it for you. It happened to me before on my ipod touch. Guy said it was an easy fix.

    Did you Google DFU mode?

    That will fix it.

I am quite surprised at that.

How far did you get? What exactly happened? Did you get any errors?

All that happens is that the apple icon comes up, the white circle thing spins around as if its trying to load up, then the screen flashes as if its going to start and then the screen goes black and the apple icon starts again doing the same thing.

The Apple logo shouldn't come up if it is in DFU mode. :)

OP - this may seem like a silly question but, Is it fully charged?

I have noticed if the battery goes completly empty on my iphone it can take up to 20 mins to start.

There is the apple logo and then screen goes blank. Keep it connected to itunes and leave it for about 30 mins and see if it rights itself.

I have also noticed the same with my nano.

I'm not even getting that far. ALL that the phone is letting me do is the above!!

You seem to be contradicting yourself. :)

You are saying the Apple logo is coming up, but I am saying it shouldn't come up when it is in DFU mode. So it sounds like you aren't getting into DFU mode.

Getting into DFU mode can be tricky, but when you do it, iTunes should recognise it and allow you to perform a restore. But iTunes won't do it for you in the phone's current state, it has to be in DFU mode.
