The Euro Tour

I think it shows how much more exciting the US tour is when the last mention of the BMW was on Friday. The BMW is arguably one of the better attended events on the European tour and yet we are not falling over ourselves talking about it. Hopefully not because a Brit won? ;)

Wasn't there a good finish in Europe? -8 back nine including an albatross on 18 not too shabby. Great to see Dougherty up there again after going through a tough time.
I know I couldn't follow it much because Saturday was Captains Day.... which ended at 6am Sunday. After a slow morning I went for a walk in the park with the kids before playing a fourball match in the evening... chinese and bed so practically wasn't at the computer all weekend. You can see that a lot this time of year... even the computer nerds are drawn to the outdoors :)

I love watching the European Tour events much more than most of the US drivel on display. I've watched quite a few of the younger players as amateurs so enjoy tacking their progress.

At least the commentary on the European Tour is better than the morons on US TV doing the PGA tour. Plus I could watch Di Stewart all day..and night;)

I don't see anyone talking about the last US Tour event either.
Personally, I much prefer the European tournaments.

The weather is too good to be watching tv.
Much better playing than watching it.

Much prefer the Euro tour. Better variety of courses and the quality of the coverage is far better on the European tour. I dont think I've once seen them refer to Snoopy 1 ten time throughout the show on sky outside of the majors!

The US tour finish wasnt as exciting as the European finish IMO. As licksy says an albatross on 18 is a good way keep up the excitement! Kenny perry had the travellers won with a few holes to go, to me it was a done deal. Dougherty could have fouled up on the last three holes but thankfully didnt!

The only mention of the us tour I can see on boards in the last few days is in the thread announcing that eurosport has taken over the rights. I may be wrong and I'm sure someone will counter this point with a heap of stats in relation to the golf boards, but I think the only time we really talk about the us tour on here is when there is a strong irish/european contingent in a tournament or if something out of the ordinary happens like if Tiger shoots 9,000 under par on a Sunday to win by one stroke or he holes a putt from the 18th tee that twirls around the cup 16 and a half times before it drops. Naturally we are going to talk about the european tour more due to having a closer connection with it. It may change now though that the UStour is a lot more accessible than it has been over the last few years.

I prefer to watch the US Tour simply due to the time difference.
Its easier to watch live golf at night time and Sky's Golf Night showing highlights doesnt cut it for me.
The main problem with the US coverage is The Golf Channel.
Ever since they started covering events the coverage has been abominable.
    Their commentators are absolute rubbish.

+1 on this. Live, daytime, mon-fri golf is not really that useful for most people I would say.

if anything that should mean the opposite since more people will be able to see the golf on eurosport.

Generally you'll find people are most interested in talking about playing golf, not watching it. Unless there is a big tournament or as mentioned above local interest. I've certainly not seen any evidence that the US Tour is more talked about than Euro tour for an average event.

I rarely even open the threads on the tour events from either side of the pond. I don't watch much golf on TV at all so the extent of my interest is to read the bits in the Times sport section which fills me in on the Irish contingent.

    Thats very true.
Compare the golf forum on here to the soccer forum.
In the soccer forum all people talk about is watching soccer on tv,hardly any threads on actually playing the sport, technique, training, fitness, equipment etc.
Golf forum is all about participation which is much better.
