i just got cubase and am hooking up my mic through an external soundcard.,(toneport UX8) but for some reason it seems only to be redcording on the right(the top line), playing back on the right speaker.,even though the monitors on the hard ware and the soundcards software is picking up both. i wonder if anyone could give me any help on this>?

    microphones are mono

are you recording to a stereo channel by any chance?

I use to use Cubase VST quite a bit, and I had terrible problems with this.. You have to make sure that the appropriate input is selected and set to active. You need to identify first of all which input corresponds to the input you need..

I find it very awkward for recording audio. Too many times you sing in a take only to find that the wrong input was selected, or set too low etc etc... just annoying things like that.

the issue is definately with recording it in stereo... Sometimes Cubase does Stereo channels as a default instead of mono...

Won't be able to give you a proper guide on how to change it until i get home...

... been a while since i've dabled in it.

    But basically...

When creating a channel in cubase, you'd usually have the cohoice of Midi, FX, Group, Audio (Stereo / Mono)...

    Pick the mono option...

You should also have an option around the inputs section of the mixer to select which way you want to take in the signal. Unfortunately... memory gets a bit hazy here...
