Good deal on a Condor?

A "Bike Hut" (ie Halford's) is having a closing down sale near me and seem to have decent discounts on some Condor bikes.

I'm wondering if this is a good deal, and if I should buy it:

Condor Leggero - Rapha-Condor Limited Edition
    Dura-Ace groupset
    Fulcrum wheels

Price £2000, marked down from £2899.

Now, this is a display model and there seems to be wear on the front chain-ring - some of the teeth look chipped. I presume if the place is closing down I won't get much after-sales care.

tbh, I'm a bit sketchy on the specs, and I was just directed to Condor's own website. The prices there are a good bit higher, and there's no mention of this particular edition. The frame looks like this.

I'm not really in the market right now for this kind of bike, but I am hoping to go full-carbon next year. If I really am saving £900 (and can get it on the UK Bike to Work scheme), it seems too good to pass up.

    Thoughts?

EDIT: It's a Cycle Republic, not a Bike Hut. Still Halford's.

It's only a good deal if it's really the bike you want.

What appeals to you about it?

You can get a Dura-ace equipped bike for a lot less.

Personally I'd feel very self-conscious riding a "Rapha" branded bike.

I like the thought of saving £100s (obviously only if the bike fits etc).
I like Condor bikes for some reason - I guess they're fairly unusual in Ireland?
I will be upgrading my bike at some stage.

    So much for reason one.

Yeah - the second decision would be whether I'd be happy being the ultimate Fred trundling along on my black and pink Rapha bike.

They've only been open a few months too.

A black and pink bike would be nice to have alright, though full pink is better!

Simply put, compared to full retail, it's a great bargain. The downside is that there's other, possibly better bikes out there for that price. At the end of the day, you pays your money and takes your choice. If I could afford it, I'd be very tempted, that's for sure

    I'd ride it.

Was wistfully examining the bike when a mate pointed out "it's a girl's bike".

Would I be paying full retail for a bike with Wiggle though?

To be fair, I hadn't intended to shop for a new bike, and my next upgrade was prob not going to be this far up the range.

Yeah, but it would be boring if everyone rode a Planet-X.

    Review here.

    This does it for me.

This one doesn't seem to be exactly the same spec (although the £2899 price matches). It had Fulcrum wheels - not sure which ones. Trouble is, this being a Halford's shop, it's hard to be certain about the information.

afair it's not quite the same paint-job on this fella - I don't think there's any white. Check out the link to the Rapha-Condor site in my OP.

Colour doesn't make it a girls bike... see my steed:

Actually, he was surprisingly understanding when I said lots of male cyclists have pink bikes. But I've already explained the lycra etc to the lad, and I think he's given up trying to make sense of it.

Well as Morgan said, buy it if you want it.

Expensive bikes are hardly an investment - whatever you buy at that price will lose money if you decide to flip it on.

High-end bikes with DA-level kit are often well north of £2500.

Thanks for the advice folks. Going to keep my powder dry. I reckon I'll be able to save up the difference by the time I'm ready to buy anyway.

Were the teeth definitely chipped or was it just the standard tooth profile. It's a funny design, but coupled with the ramps and pins it allows for better shifting. It can look like some teeth are broken.

OK - I didn't know that. I checked my own bike during the day - My new 105 ring has similar 'chipping' so it probably is due to the design.
