the situation with the Tour of Meath is that MLSP will be taking entries right up to the event with no additional cost. Few options, apply online, download the entry form and post it in with the payment (will need to arrive in the office before friday) and registration will take place on saturday between 4-6 and on sunday morning from 7-8am in the Trim Castle Hotel.

I should be doing this. We are planning on cycling down on the Sunday morning. The Trim road is meant to be a very fast cycle :)

Was this why there were cyclists randomly dotted all along Ongar,Clonee and Dunboyne?
I swear it was like a load of headless chickens up and down every corner in no sort of direction lol.. twas a little intimidating too.. All in good fun though I didn't see any boards jerseys :(

I'm not sure whether to drive down and do the 160 or cycle down and do the 100. If I cycle down and back I'll have done approx 150km.

    Decision time I suppose.

I was thinking the exact same thing ... but I am not yet 100% sure of my plans for Sunday.

If I do this, I am thinking of cycling down and back and do the 100kms ..

100kms starting at 8:30AM sounds good.

I thought you usually brought a support crew with you ... :) ... let me know how your plans go ... I will probably not be sure of mine till tomorrow evening ... so its going to be a last minute online registration for me.

I'll more than likely cycle down and do the 100. We could arrange to meet in Batterstown as it's on the way for both of us,that's if you're doing it.

Why not cycle down and do the 160? There is no climbing on the route. Biggest grade is something like 3%. Should be a case of 25-30kmph average for the day easily enough.

Oh and I'm doing this meaning I think 244km for the day.

If I get up early enough I'll be on for this.
I'm right in thinking I can still enter in the morning but with a €10 late fee?

I did my first 100km ever today during the Tour of Meath. Avg speed 23.5 which I'm very happy with. I started at the back of the pack as I never rode with a group before so I didn't want to cause an accident, then progressively found my pace. I made a couple of mistakes on corners so guys behind had to brake hard ...sorry "it's my first day" :o
The Hill of Tara was not as hard as it looks on the car but the hill in Slane was very hard. Then the route was rolling which I loved.
I did the last 15km with a group from the Bray Wheelers.
The marshallls were very good. Really well organised, plenty of food, water, tea and coffee for everybody along the route and same back in Trim castle hotel.
Nice feeling to have done my first metric century but my butt hurts :D

Congrats to anyone who did this. Meath is no where near as flat as Google thinks it is. The 160 route has 310m of climbing per google. Garmin picked it up 520 in SportTracks although I'm nearly sure it was reading 1000+ a one point during it. Some long enough 8-10% hills too.

The event overall was really well organised. Marshalls were everything and great. The signs also meant not needing to worry about where you were going. Loads of food too. Only downside being the 78km between the second and third food stops on the 160km route.

Total of 252.89km for the day for me. 10,843Cals.

    Hi Ryaner
Do you have a GPS track of the route? if so could you please pm it to me?
Were you wearing a Boards.ie jersey?
    Cheers
