iPhone Prefixes

I have an iPhone and it's great, however the one thing that annoys me is the phone prefix setting on it. For example if "Joe Blogg's" number was 0871234567 then I'd have to type in +353871234567. Otherwise if I were to text him, having just typed in "087.." then I'd get a text back from "+353 87..".
I don't mind it, as I've gotten used to it. I'm just wondering if this is annoying any other people?

    I never noticed this.

Handy having the prefixes for whenever you're out of the country. You'd need 'em to make calls or send texts.

I'd agree it might be handy, but for Apple to force you to do it is annoying, if it's true of all models.

And BTW, on other phones you don't need the country code for texting. The texts go to your O2 SMS centre number which already has the +35386 prefix. I suspect the iPhone is the same.

What? I've never had to put in +353 on any of my contact numbers (have had both 2g and 3g) but generally I just do it anyway out of habit. Knowing country codes is handy
