Anyone any links where I can get me another Yamaha super Axe. I already have an SA1000 but I'm thinking about going for the holy grail of 335's and getting an SA2000/SA2000S. I have been scouting IShi but to no aval. One popped up recently but was snapped up immediately and herein lies another question ....what time do Ishibashi refresh their site with new goodies? (local time that is ;) ) I've heard the good doc go on about Digimart or somethin ...anyone any other good jap sites to make the purchase?????
I thank thee in advance :p

wooooahhh that is a beauty Dord. However the SA1000 I have is also in cherry red and we all know the rules of engagement when it comes to GAS ....some differences are required.....Is the price on that axe only 78K????...thats what about 600 yo yos??? A bargain...I know customs and shipping will probabaly ass another 200 at least but I swear to Jacko Super Axes are the finest guitars I've ever played!!!

Pssh... the beauty of getting similar colour guitars is that nobody else will spot them if you sneak them into the house. Just gradually rotate them into your playing. ;)

It'd cost you almost 900 all in I think?

I've always wanted a go on one of those. I remember one of the lads from Guitarist mag using one to do an amp shoot out on one of their demo vids.It sounded great.
Coda music in the UK used to have used SA's quite regularily, haven't seen one on there in a while though.

Cheers Boycey...I think all I need in my arsenal is the Sa1000 with Peter Green pickups and an SA2000 with P90's....That would do ...yeah I think I'd be happy then....for a while anyway :D

They do 'em with P90's? Wow. I didn't know that.
Time to google and enflame the GAS gland even more. I hope you're proud of yourself Mcginty:pac:

Patricide...The SA1000 I have is the best geetar I've ever layed my grubby mits on...Fab guitars. Rare enough these days and are snapped up fairly pronto on Ishi and other such sites it seems.

Well, presuming that the SA series follows a similar numbering system to the SG series, the differences are probably about the same as between the SG 2000 and the SG 1500 i.e. some but mostly cosmetic differences. They seem to be a rare enough bird, so not much info about.

    http://www.historicguitar.com/id30.html

    They're not even mentioned here.

There's a really nice SA2000 on the ubox:

    http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/ubox.cgi?T=syosai&sline=4672&print=1&keys2=sound%2Dmedia%40ishibashi%2Eco%2Ejp&tid=list3

Buy it before I do... I had a deposit on an SA2200 from GAK before xmas. Would have got it for €970 delivered. They increased the price on it from £899 to over £1400 shortly after but still offered it to me for £899. Regret not getting it now :(

That SAS-1500 looks really nice too but it's already sold.... did you buy it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,573 ✭✭✭Fingers Mcginty

No didn't buy it GS ...that wasn't me. Dammit they go quick eh? The current SA series wouldn't really do it for me. It's the old vintage Sa1000's/SA2000's that are the dogs IMO and I was wondering if the SA1500 was alos vintage. I'd go for that SA2000 on IShi but I have an SA1000 in the exact same colour already. I'll be keeping an eye out from now on :)

Looks like a nice grain. Could sand and clearcoat it for a nice natural finish? Prob wont find too many of them around. I was looking at the 80's SA's as well when I was buying new gear. Hard to come by and sell fast as you can tell. The black looks sweet as well:

nah...I think I'll hold out for a nice sunburst 2000S. Damn Gas :o
Let us know if anyone of you gents spot one eh? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,573 ✭✭✭Fingers Mcginty

GS that SA1500 was actually an SAS1500???

    sound-depo_sas1500

They are relatively new according to some sites.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

Yeah that looks like the one that was on the Ubox. Sold pretty fast

That ones body looks smaller... kinda like that small ES335 that Gibson make, I think it's the 337 or something like that?

Did you have any luck yet Fingers? I'm on the hunt for a used SA2200 if you spot one in your searching

Not yet G...Still on the look out. I've just been checking Ishibashi and the likes.
BTW the SA2000 is supposed to be a nicer guitar. :) There is a beauty on Ishi at the mo but it's the same colour as my SA1000...can't be havin that. I'm waiting for one to pop up in some other colour and then I'll swoop in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

Aye I know about the SA2000. I saw the one on ishi. If it was any colour other than red/wine I would have bought it by now. Dunno how it compares to the SA2200 having never played either but I've seen equally good reviews on both models

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,573 ✭✭✭Fingers Mcginty

Have you ever played any of the SA series?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

Nope given how rare they are its not like you can just head into xmusic or the likes and try one out. Played a gibson 335 though and love everything about it except the price. The higher end Yamahas seem to be better bang for the buck according to people who have owned both. And I'm a big fan of Japanese guitars.

Also the SA2200 has a coil tap and some of the sound clips and videos I've seen of it hits all the right spots. As far as I can see the pre 80's SA's didnt have it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,573 ✭✭✭Fingers Mcginty

Aye true enough. I just love 335 style guitars. I love the big body and it's so comfy much more so than a LP type either standing or sitting. I made a bit of a gamble with mine and did a lot of reading up about them on the net and in chat rooms and everyone always sung their praises so I went ahead and took the plunge. Have never been happier. I'm always blown away by the sound at gigs and she has lovely controllable feedback. The guitar also sings acoustically....handy for those late night strums.

Don't know much about this crowd but

    SA2200

    and SA2000

and a pretty cheap Gibbo 335

Never dealt with them...but good prices eh?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

Yeah saw that 2200 on digimart earlier today. Not far off what I'd get a new one for from the uk. Was hopin to pick one up second hand for a little less. The SA2000 looks very nice. Just what you were lookin for ;) I think I'll hold out for a second hand 2200. There was one second hand 2200 on digimart but its already sold :(
