im just wondering if anyone knows whether or not it is OK or can you have eircom broadband with out a phone, me and my partner are moving into an apartment and we are looking for broadband only as we both have meteor mobiles. we have a phone line but no phone.

does anyone have experiance or know will eircom just send us a router? and will they charge us more for not bundling in a phone?

You pay line rental. Nowadays you're mad to rent a phone too. People usually buy their own DECT phone. Eircom won't make you take a phone.

The cheapest Broadband on phone line works out about €50+ a month for 1Mbps, including the approx €26 line rental (not phone rental).

Under €40 gives you far faster UPC cable (TV is optional) or Digiweb Metro (LOS wireless), both of which need no phone line (so no eircom rental) but optionally include a phone service.
However not everyone can get them. Though both are available in various areas of Cork city.
