I've been looking into this recently and I'm curious to hear the experiences of anyone who has bought cheap Applecare on Ebay. Did it work correctly? Have you managed to claim from it? Did the seller send you the whole case or just the code? Is it still showing as valid?

Just the code in both cases, via e-mail. You then use teh code to register your laptop with applecare. I have bought it for a macbook and a macbook pro, and have used it for the macbook pro.

Bought one each for an iMac and a Macbook last year. They were both based in US. Was kind of sceptical at first as well. Codes were just sent via mail. Registered them and have since had repairs done under warranty. (case for macbook & keyboard and mouse for iMac in Mactivate). Cost about a third of what I would have paid here.

PS - Get mobile me via the same methods and make good savings as well.

I got applecare for a macbook air recently and it worked fine. As the other posters said the code was sent via email. I called apple to confirm I was covered and it was all legit.

I was told by an "expert who worked for Apple on Cork" that you can't transfer Applecare accross countries blah blah blah.
Bought it for MBP and ended up needing to get my laptop replaced under the warranty when it was 14 month old. When you phone applecare they never even question it. Its a worldwide warranty after all
If i was travelling in australia i should still be covered by Apple australia, so apple Ireland or UK didn't bat an eyelid that it came form US

I'd recommend caution. There are a few horror stories over on this Macrumors thread. A lot of it is hysterics but enough to make you think twice.
