During this wonderful time of year where football and hurling take centre stage in the media it is easy to believe they are the only GAA sports. Handball it seems has disappeared from the media spotlight, Paul Brady just a few weeks ago won the US National Handball Championship beating players who spent the year playing handball professionally, was this victory covered in the national media, no. The sport in Ireland is experiencing a great boom with over 250 competitors in the National One Wall competition in Castlebar, yet many people around the country are completely oblivious to the sport.

I started this thread just to hear some views about the sport and how it is viewed in your county.
    Thanks!

I play handball in Wexford and find that while a lot of people dont know about the game the people that do play it are fanatical about it and have a great love for the game. I think with more exposure and continued growth Handball can compete with hurling, football, rugby and the likes

The question is can handball a primarily individual support compete with team sports like football and hurling which lives off community spirit? How can the sport be show-cased so the nation can view it? True people in handball are fanatical but there simply is not enough of these people to promote the game nationally at the minute.
