I thought it might be interesting to throw together a table, compiled from the results of the recent Dublin Juvenile T&F Championships, showing the performances of the competing clubs. I have done this very simply by awarding 3, 2 and 1 points to gold, silver and bronze medals. Very simplistic with no allowance made for 'cheap' medals, for example. Anyway, here we are. I'd have liked to put these in a 'table' but I appear to be mentally challenged and can't do this :)

    Place Club Pts
    1 DSD 157
    2 Raheny Shamrocks 140
    3 Fingallians 102
    4 Clonliffe 77
    5 Crusaders 76
    6 Bros Pearse 67
    7 Donore 60
    8 Lucan 47
    9 Tallaght 44
    10 Celtic 44
    11 Templeogue 28
    12 Rathfarnham 17
    13 MSB 15
    14 Dublin Striders 6
    15 Skerries 2

Note: Tallaght more wins than Celtic

Intesting table. Probably a good reflection of the work being done or focus being put on underage athletics by certain clubs and not others.

Came by this thread by accident, never seen it before but thought I'd do 2012 Dublin T&F champs to see how my club compares and with 2013 just around the corner.
While doing it I can see that my club could do better at field events.
No doubt I'll have made a couple of mistakes but don't think it'll skew the final placings too much.

    Place Club Pts
    1 DSD 130
    2 Crusaders 106
    3 Clonliffe 96
    4 Donore 93
    4 Raheny Shamrocks 93
    6 Tallaght 76
    7 Fingallians 54
    8 Bros Pearse 50
    9 Celtic 39
    10 MSB 33
    11 Lucan 26
    12 Lusk 22
    13 Dublin Striders 20
    13 Templeogue 20
    15 Rathfarnham 18
    16 Lambay 17
    16 Blackrock 17
    18 Skerries 8
    19 Cabinteely 6

Is that 2012 (as you state) or 2013? Love it that the Cru are in second place only having started their juvenile section in late 2008.

2012 and you'll be chuffed to know that they ranked no.1 in the field events :D with 69 points compared with Dsd 60 in 2nd. In track they ranked 6th with 37 points.

while we wait for the results from the weekend, I thought I'd do this table for the 2013 indoors. I broke it down into boys and girls to save scrolling, not realising how grim that would make the reading :(

    Boys first

    Place | Club | Pts
    1| DSD | 68
    2| Tallaght | 67
    3 | Donore | 49
    4 | Bros Pearse | 47
    5 | Crusaders | 44
    6 | Raheny | 26
    7 | Fingallians | 18
    7 | Cabinteely | 18
    9 | MSB | 12
    10 | Lucan | 7
    10 | Rathfarnham | 7
    10 | Blackrock| 7
    13 | Portmarnock | 6
    13 | Celtic | 6
    13 | Dublin Striders | 6
    13 | Lusk | 6
    13 | Clonliffe| 6
    18 | Templeogue | 4
    19 | LSA | 2
    20 | WSAF| 2

(Ties settled by number of 1st places, then 2nds)

    And now the girls

    Place | Club | Pts
    1| DSD | 140
    2| Blackrock | 34
    3 | Tallaght | 28
    4 | Crusaders | 27
    5 | MSB| 24
    6 | Celtic| 22
    7 | Clonliffe| 19
    8 | Raheny| 17
    9 | Fingallians | 12
    10 | Donore | 12
    11 | Bros Pearse | 11
    12 | Lucan | 8
    13 | Lusk| 8
    14 | Templeogue | 6
    15 | Mid Sutton | 4
    16 | WSAF | 3
    17 | LSA | 1

More than half the Bros Pearse points were won by one girl:o.
DSD had 65 placings across the events, next highest was Tallaght with 17. (In the Boys, DSD had 34 placings, Tallaght 30, Bros Pearse 23, Donore 20, Crusaders 19)

In the Boys events there were 408 points awarded, but in the girls only 376 because of unfilled places.

Fair play to DSD, they're getting things right, but the rest of us....:(

Yeah fair play to DSD. When I was compiling mine I noticed that they seem to be very well balanced, results in every age group and in both track and field.
They also seem to keep their athletes in the sport for longer.

The teams should be interesting given that it's only u9, u10 and u11. Blackrock seem to do well in this age group.
Looking forward to Dublin champs in a couple of weeks.

As predicted Blackrock (43) top of the pile after the weekend, with DSD (37) in 2nd and Tallaght (31) in 3rd.

Blackrock also with the most Golds with 12. Tallaght 2nd with 6 and DSD 3rd with 5

Very disappointing from my perspective, think I'll change my title from coach to babysitter. If the kids and parents dont attend the meets whats the point

Yeah we've had that problem ourselves in the past. It's a tough one. For my own group I've taken to bombarding parents with texts looking for confirmation as well as the usual letter home and it appears to have worked as our numbers were definitely up. Now if only I could get the club website sorted :D

DSD yet again top of the pile, this time in cross country. A lot of their points came from the older age divisions which I think is a credit to them in that they can keep kids in the sport. The points below takes both the first 3 individuals and first 3 teams only into account. 3 points for gold, 2 for silver and 1 for bronze

2013 Dublin Juvenile (U9-U19) XC champs
    Place Club Pts
    1 DSD 78
    2 Tallaght 30
    3 Clonliffe 28
    4 MSB 25
    5 Blackrock 23
    6 Celtic 22
    7 Skerries 17
    8 Cabinteely 12
    9 Templeogue 7
    10 Rathfarnham 4
    11 Fingallians 3
    12 Bros Pearse 3
    13 Raheny Sham 3
    14 Donore 2
    15 Lusk 1
    16 Lucan 1
    17 Dublin Striders 0
    18 Crusaders 0
    19 Portmarnock

The bulk of our club points came from the U9-U12 age group, so ideal scenario is to keep all of them in the sport and then we'll finally topple DSD in 5/6years time :D

It's shocking how much the fields shrink as the ages go up. U10/U11 girls is like a Justin Bieber crowd, U16/U17 girls has some great runners but so few in the race...:(

It is sad to see and to think some of the team podium medals didn't even get filled. What's the solution though? I'm at a loss.
Obviously I've invested interest in the U11 girls and as a result we've created a very strong social scene/bond for them. Team outings and sleep overs and the like, could this be sth, don't really know just throwing it out there.
