Can I use 4core telephone wire for a HKC securewatch alarm (pirs, contact to control panel).

Also, can I use this PIR: http://www.meteorelectrical.com/catalog/518 with a HKC securewatch alarm?

    thanks in advance!
    Tim

ps: can i use this contact aswell with 4core wire? : http://www.meteorelectrical.com/catalog/521

telephone cable is not recommended for use in the install of components by the manufacture of these products.. try using alarm cable, not as easy to break when using. .

You can use phone cable if you want but it is not recommended as it is hard drawn(single strand) and is prone to snapping if bent once too often, sometimes inside the sleeving which is a nightmare to track down. Alarm cable is stranded(usually 7 strands), which makes it flexible, also the colour coded wires are easier to identify(red, black, yellow and blue) as opposed to white with blue, blue with white and so on. As for the PIR it looks like and has the same spec as the Honeywell 12m PIR available everywhere over here, although I would recommend HKC's new PIR which can be used as a standalone or an ID PIR for around the same price. The contact looks like a standard 5 terminal contact which will work.

you can use it in a self install alarm but not in a EN50131-1:2006 alarm that is certified by the NSAI.. you are right about it breaking if you bend or pull on it too much..

    Altor,

thanks for such a quick reply and I will use alarm cable as as you all say, it might break if you bend and pull it so much. thanks Altor!
