Can't really help you, as I've never been to a wedding in either, but Barberstown Castle certainly looks lovely . . .

    Howdy bignelly.

AS a musician who has played in both venues, I can only qualify an answer regarding the function rooms.

The Marriott is a nice place to go for a spa break.

Barberstown Castle has a very stylish and intimate (not too small) function room, and holds a very good atmosphere. If there is 200+ at the wedding, consider the Marriott.

I dont know about the food in either place but for location, setting and style, I would prefer Barberstown Castle.

Been at a wedding in Barberstown. Fantastic venue, great staff, great food.

The dining room itself is in a T-shape. So if you have a lot of guests (> 180), you may have a couple of tables occupying either arm of the T, which isn't ideal but it's not a major problem either.
The shape of the room does allow people to escape from the music and dancefloor if they want to.

Weather was unbelievable when I was there, so that might influence me a bit :D
