Anyone interested in this game in any good clans?Any tight knit good Irish(highly doubt)/European clans PvP orientated?Organised with ventrilo and quality>quantity etc etc.

Hell maybe even if there is enough interest for the game we can start a clan up!(No I wont be the leader.Always been a good loyal trustworthy player, not a leader)Doesnt seem to be any mortal online threads or anything so I thought I would make a post.If interested leave a post or pm me if you want

There is a few of us that are definitly interested in it. It will probably be a while before we can start to play together though, with only a small number (10000 or so) pre-orders being available in the next few weeks. I'll definitly be giving it a go though, and it will hopefully be great.

yea definitely gonna try it alright, pre-orders open up tomorrow and they grant beta access (though not guaranteed to all phases)

Tbh, based on BB4L's reputation from Darkfall, I'll be casually distancing myself from you lot ;)

But to answer the question, I and a few others from work will definitely be giving this a go :)

Nah I just mean all that internet slang that childish guilds/mmo players say to eachother. 'qq','butthurt','n00bs','raped' and all that malarchy.

Got in block one on a BOXED VERSION!Owned suckas :0

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,798 ✭✭✭Funky

was pricey but I preordered, how do you know what beta block you're in?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,062 ✭✭✭Sarn

Think I'll wait to see how much the DD costs. €68 for a boxed version that I don't want is too much. I'll survive without beta.

Go make onto the Mortal online site, go into the shop again, login and check you details. It should say at the top.

yea i saw it a while after posting, Block B here

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,976 ✭✭✭✭humanji

Yeah, I'm block B too. Pity, because I have two weeks off and was hoping to be able to play it from next week. :D

I'm looking forward to giving it a go alright, what little I've heard from the beta so far has been good. Though I'm doing my best to avoid hype for this (4 years on the Darkfall forums was not healthy)

    Morfail Online :D

Yeh trying not to get so hyped this time also.

The Open Beta for MO started yesterday, and its available to anyone who wants in. I'm downloading it at the moment. Will give it a try tomorrow. Be warned though, its still apparently quite rough around the edges (and right through it)

i finally gave the closed beta a go about a week ago and had kinda mixed opinions about it. i like the skills trees and skill limit cause it gives real specialisation to your character, which was missing in darkfall. the +/-/lock to skills a la UO is a great system.

combat seemed really slow paced and boring to be perfectly honest though, i dabbled mainly in archery and only a tiny bit in melee, both felt pretty unsatisying. maybe magic is different. you swing/shoot incredibly slowly and the composition(mix of different woods used) of the bow you craft has massive bearing on how far you shoot. it took me a while to manage to make one that could actually shoot further than about 3m and even then it was frustrating because the crosshair is pretty horrible. i could shoot maybe 5 or 6 arrows or swing my weapon about the same amount of times before being completely out of stamina, at which point i could either walk around and have it regen incredibly slowly or stand still for about 10 seconds waiting for it. there's skills that improve these but i hadn't noticed a massive increase from the gains i got in them.

the game has potential, the skill system is great imo with plenty of depth and not much of a grind in the slightest but unless combat improves MASSIVELY with maxxed skills i think it needs a complete overhaul.

edit: oh one huge plus is the character creation system, you can pretty much create unique races out of a pretty big mix of races who all have their pros and cons, determining the max stats your character will be able to attain. stat gain was also pretty quick, from mining/chopping wood alone i went from about 25 Str/Con to i think 70 and 80 respectively, my character's maxes were around 100.

I was quite excited by this when I first heard about it and actually pre-ordered a copy (oh the folly of youth). The disk arrived the other day in a fairly nifty looking steel case. But there was nothing else in it other than on dvd (there was another dvd space in it). There wasn't even a sheet of paper to thank me for buying it. Bit mad. So I installed it only to find it has the wrong version and I've to patch to a new one, which I can't do because the updater isn't working. Apparently there's a work around, but I'm just losing interest in it.

Might give it another whirl on the weekend.

Likewise. I figured it was just to ensure that nobody could cancel their pre-order. Which I must admit, I was seriously considering up until Funky's post. :P

I wish I did get my refund while I could. I don't see how the game can survive long enough to become fun to play. I have tried to play the beta a few times now and I keep giving up in frustration. The stamina bar was the most annoying when I tried recently as it doesn't regen when you are walking so you have to stand still and wait for it to refill if you want to sprint anywhere and you can only sprint for a few seconds before it's empty again. You also have to download the whole game again through torrent when you want to test it out as their patcher doesn't work.

Hopefully it does stay going and improve as I like the direction they are trying to go with the game. I feel Darkfall will eclipse it constantly though as they have so much of a headstart on it and that game just continues to grow and improve while MO still haven't even passed the stage where combat is actually fun.

So i finally got around to trying this last night, and i'm not sure what to think to be honest. It definitely has potential, but whether they ever get to a point where that potential is realised is another matter. There are major problems (crazy lag, rubberbanding, unintuitive controls etc...), which if not fixed, will seriously hurt the game. But it is still the Beta afterall. It could probably do with another 6 months of QA/testing, but thats the case with a lot of smaller MMO's these days.

What they do have, if refined and tweaked a bit, could be great fun. Very 'hardcore', and will definitely only appeal to a small niche of players, but its something that i will keep an eye on. I doubt i'll buy it at launch, but i might give it a try once the initial influx of players has gone through.
