parking tickets and signatures

Just a trivia question. Our local authority fixed penalty parking tickets used to be signed by the individual warden.

Now they have no name only a reference no. Should they be signed. Nothing pending here only curious. I think some nitty gritty rules changed a couple of years ago.

    Thanks in advance

Signature is not an essential element. The fixed penalty ticket is merely an offer to have the matter dealt with informally without court. If the matter goes to court the lack of a signature on what is basically an offer is not going to save a person from a conviction.
