Iphone 3GS Bluetooth phonebook access profile?

Can anyone tell me if the iPhone 3GS has a Bluetooth phonebook access profile (BPAP) so connected devices can access the phonebook such as car kits etc.? Most regular handsets have had this feature for a while now.

The reason I ask is my car kit lets me scroll through my phonebook using the buttons on the steering wheel and gives me caller ID on the dash and I'm wondering will this work with the iphone. I've got a feeling the answer is no given the limited bluetooth functionality Apple have given the iphone.

I've had both the 1st gen iPhone and now the iPhone 3G and they've both had this so I assume the new one does too ?

Excellent, thanks. Didn't think this feature would work with the iPhone.

Is there a trick to getting the iPhone to connect to car kits? When I switch on bluetooth, the iphone finds my Ford audio device, but when I click on it, it doesn't seem to do anything and says Not Paired ... any ideas?

No trick .. it should just connect. Make sure your friends phone isn't connect at the time; most kits can only connect to one phone at a time.

When connecting to my car stereo I needed to hold down some button on the stereo to open pairing mode. The two devices 'paired' and then could see each other every time after that. Maybe your unit has a similar mode you need to use?

I deleted the pairings to my old phones from the radio and then the iPhone paired up ok!
