Music & Music-related Courses at NUIG?

I have a friend who is interested in studying Music or Music production/Sound Engineering and he'd like to study it in Galway, but there does not seem to be any courses on offer in Galway. I think it's available in Maynooth and in several places in Dublin, but Galway is the desired destination!

I think it's strange that NUIG don't offer any courses, especially when Galway is considered by many to be a cultural haven in Ireland.

Have any of you got any suggestions, or has anyone had experience with a similar course in Galway?

Nope, no decent music courses in Galway! There are a few PLC's in GTI maybe and thats about it. NUIG dose not have a music department which is strange for such a longstanding institution. Bottom line is, as my LC music teacher told me "If you want to study music get out of Galway".

That's such a shame and it is definitely strange. Maybe there's some kind of agreement between NUIG and Maynooth(who offer music and music production)? What kind of PLCs would you recommend?

There's PLCs in Music Production and Performance in GTI and also Moneenageisha school. A couple of friends of mine have done these but to be honest they weren't very impressed. The tutors and courses were ok but most people doing the course seemed to be dossers.

Your friend would be as well to go to NUIM and do one of the degree courses if they are really interested in the whole Music thing.
