Boxer - Stung in mouth by bee.

The folks own a boxer and unfortunately she took a dislike to a bee during the week. She tried to eat it and it stung her under the tongue and she had a really bad reaction. Her whole mouth closed up and she developed a huge abcess under her tongue/jaw. Her whole mouth closed up and her tongue hung out at the side of her mouth. She was also experiencing trouble breathing due to the reduced air passage.

The vet put her on steroids and anti-biotics and thats clearing it up very well. Swelling completely gone.

However, she's lost tonnes of weight over the few days. Shes back to her normal energy levels almost . Bit worried about her weight still though. Anybody else ever experience this with a boxer? She seems to have had a really adverse effect from the sting.

She probably didn't take a dislike to it - I notice that my dog yums bees and wasps.

Never (thank goodness) experienced this. But the poor girl will probably come back to herself with love and petting and good feeding.

    Hi

Had a box x once thqat got into ants nest and had allergic reaction, mad race to vets, face went up like a football. Fine after though, no ill effects. However crosses tend to be a bit more hardier than full breeds.

If she is on dry food you could try adding some canned and some oil to it and giving 3 small meals a day. You should notice a change in a weeks time.
