Just an update for all Mac users who might be having any issues launching JSMS recently. You need to download and install JSMS again (don't worry all your contacts and settings will remain after the re-install).

I've fixed some bugs in the launcher relating to Java and the new update of Java 6. I encourage all users to download and install this package manually as it will not come down via the auto-update.

    Get JSMS here:

    Nice one, really appreciated.

Quick question... is it possible to use the Mac's Address Book contacts instead of the given options (Gmail contacts etc)? Skype can do this and its dead handy so it is...

I remember looking into this before. I would also love to have this feature. The problem is that if I do implement this, it will break the platform independent nature of the code which means I would need to separate the Windows/Mac and Linux versions up and it would be a mess to maintain.

However, I will look into this again as maybe in Java 6 there might be a way to do it. Leave it with me.....

You could have an import option for something standard like a .csv file, which most Address Book clients will allow you to export - therefore bypassing portability/platform issue but giving a working option for AB to JSMS syncing. Mac Address Book unfortunately only exports vCard format, but there are plenty of vCard to csv converting options out there e.g. Address Book to CSV Exporter or Export Address Book, both good AB exporting apps.

Yes it will work from anywhere! Or if you have an iPhone, you can leave your laptop at home and use Jelly SMS to send free texts while abroad (using data connection or wifi)

Yeah good idea! VCard import could be handy enough maybe?!

Could be. Trouble with vCard import is that it's not very universal, if you are worrying about cross-platform issues. That is why I was thinking along the lines of .csv that would cover more app export formats.

vCard would be very handy though for Mac users. Perhaps both. Or allowing Mac users to do their own vCard to csv conversion as I mentioned in the previous post.
