Does anyone know of any other ways to record my saved programmes from my Sky+ HD box onto HD or DVD other that the official Sky method of connecting a DVD recorder?
I was thinking about a moving the file to a USB stick or external HD - IS this possible.

    Thanks
    Steve

Was thinking about this myself, and was surprised to come across this nice piece of kit in Harvey Norman.

Actually comes out better value than a HDD DVD recorder, and would probably be much simpler than a HD PC capture card.

Although, while it sounds good in theory, I haven't seen it in action so don't if it works, lol.

Is that just an external HD? If so I have one of those already, that's what I was hoping to store the video files from the Sky box on

Yep, it's pretty much a glorified external HDD.

The more advanced version has recording capabilities apparently, although googling a bit more, things aren't looking good. Most places seem to suggest that the connections are output only?

Save for removing the HDD in the sky box, hooking up to pc, and using your l33t hacking skills to break the encryption, you're sh*t outta luck I'm afraid.

    Found another viable option.

It's pretty much a glorified external capture card.

Neuros have a recorder that allows you to record from any AV source to an external HDD or memory card. It's called the Neuros OSD. Actually someone on Boards is selling one (Not me BTW).

The only way to get a perfect digital copy of a Sky program is to NOT use your Sky+ HD box to record it in the first place!!

If you have, then the best quality you can get off it is if you have a Gen One Thomson Sky HD box with the unprotected Component outputs and then connect it to a Hauppauge HD PVR.

Otherwise your only option is to use a DVD recorder with RGB in.
