hi went to a new dentist today. wisdom tooth really sore. went in was there 2 mins max. he told me yes it was infected and had to be extracted. he can do it as he is an oral surgeon. make an appointment etc. perscribed antibotic for me but still in a lot of pain. is this pain meant to go away with antiboitic? this pain happened last year too and my other dentist I assumed pushed the gum back (as this is where the pain as gum growing over tooth).
Anyway this will cost 400 for one tooth (apparently my other wisdom tooth is decaying but would be a waste of money filling it as it will probably bother me in the future so willhave to remove it)
sorry I digress again (am in a lot of pain for days) what I am wondering is I know some ppl get this done in a hospital and therefore shoudlnt my health insurance cover it but if i get it done in the denatls urgery I doubt by health insurance will cover it or will it? the reason I assume it wont is I wasnt even asked if I had it.
so in short would i be better of getting it done in a hosptial if I have health insurance?
    Thanks xx

Got mine done yesterday, all 4 wisdom teeth out under general anesthetic in the bons secour in glasnevin. Thought I would be in ribbons after it but im grand. Just groggy yesterday, feeling ok today.
    Eating is difficult.

I would go with the hospital to be honest, but that's just me.

I had one of mine out in the dentist surgery and three out in the sports surgery clinic in santry this time last year. My insurance covered the hospital. If I was to have it done again I would defo go for the hospital option but thats just me. I hated being able to hear the pulling and poking much rathered being put asleep and waking up with it all over. A week off work and was good as new. Eating was tricky for a few days but not much pain as they give you strong pain killers to take if over the counter ones dont do the trick.

Antibiotics will not do anything for your pain try some neurofen plus or sopladeine they worked for me!
