Just two quick questions (may evolve into more...), do atheists have spirits?

And is there a difference between a spirit and a soul?

    Two quick answers:

    1. Yes, everybody has a spirit. But our spirits are dead until we receive Jesus Christ as our Saviour.

    2. Yes, I believe the soul is different from the spirit. Hebrews 4:12 says that God's Word (the Bible) divides between soul and spirit.

They sure do! We're all God's children...

Something I'd like to know more about myself. I have a theology book upstairs and I think it explains. Will come back if I find an explanation.

It's strange that I allegedy have a spirit, yet I can't feel it. How do I recieve Jesus Christ as my savior? Is there any method that I can try? I'd just like to try and receive Jesus and see if it works. I may be over-simplifying it, but that's obviously cos I don't understand it.

Also, (See??!!! I told you I'd end up having more questions!!!!) before Jesus Christ came to be, was everybodies spirit dead? Anyone that came before Jesus Christ surely never received Jesus Christ as their savior.

What is the difference exactly between the soul and the spirit?

Soul: the actuating cause of an individual life

Spirit: the vital principle or animating force within living things

Would you agree that the above definitions are basically the same?

I can't feel my appendix, but (allegedly) I have one.

You believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the Cross for your sins, and that He was raised from the dead. You repent of your sins (which means a sincere desire to stop committing them, not just feeling sorry), ask forgiveness, and ask Jesus Christ to enter your life by faith.

I don't know. The Bible tells us what we need to know about how we are saved rather than indulging all our curiosity about other people.

They are certainly similar, though I don't believe either of them to be accurate definitions.

Count yourself lucky there. If it does decide to make itself known you'll know all about it.

We all have spirits or souls or whatever you choose to call them. Whether one chooses to engage in meta-physics to define them or not is the question here really.
