Have been hawking around for a greenhouse for the last month (i know this is nt the perfect time of year but im told i can still plant a good few bits and pieces and to be honest the idea of growin your own veg is pretty appealing to someone who has just been laid off!) and was gonna go for this one in woodies for 600 squids

    http://www.woodiesdiy.com/productdetail.aspx?pid=8148&loc=P&catid=102.17

Then i came across this on donedeal.ie for 390 squids

Talked to a guy called Mark on the phone. Think theyre based in cork but he said they deliver anywhere and everywhere. Ordered the 8 by 6 on Friday and had it delivered to abbeyleix on Tuesday morning. Paid COD and 30 for delivery. Got me da to help me set it up and we had it done by lunch. It looks pretty cool.....now does anybody have any idea how to grow things apart from a tomacco plant??

I do, I'm growing lots of stuff (still having many difficulties, as I started this year). I found all the information here: http://www.gardenplansireland.com/forum/. Very nice place to learn and exchange experiences.

As you say it's a bit late in the year to start growing stuff, particularly veg, but I'm sure you can get some good out of it this year. If you want to make some money back though I suggest you look at using the greenhouse to bring on border seedlings and veg seedlings such as tomatoes, cabbage etc - you need to be ready to do this well before next Spring - but think back to how much you and Herself handed over to garden centres, Woodies, LIDL etc this year for border plants, and having well developed veg plants ready to plant out will make you a welcome visitor with your gardening friends!

Tomatoes (use ring culture), strawberries in a barrel, cucumbers (you can use the knobbly outdoor varieties for less hassle and better flavour), even gaia melons - and having somewhere to potter about when it's raining is good too.

    Enjoy!
