We are about to start building our bungalow and are considering a heat recovery system. We are hoping to have oil fired underfloor heating, a small stand alone stove and possibly solar panels.

My questions about the heat recovery system would be:
    Are they very efficient?
Can you turn them off so you can open windows/doors?
If not is it easy to get use to not being able to open doors etc?
What happens if there is a power failure?

Any other advice/tips would be greatly appreciated as we are confused!!
