    Have problem.

Oil warning light keeps coming on. Stop car. Stop engine. Everything checks out ok.

Seems all I have to to to remedy the problem is open the filler cap!!

    Any advise to sort this?

Is it the oil pressure warning light?

They can give trouble with oil pumps and when they go the engine gets starved of oil and ruin everything (bearings etc.) Hopefully its not this. Try look for perished rubber hoses around the oil filter as I've seen this happen before. The hose can literally dissintigrate and clog up and starve it of oil.

The gauze in the pick-up could be getting clogged

I'd be more inclined to agree with this. Is the car using more oil than normal or is the level on the dipstick staying constant?

Get the oil pressure checked before you end up doing engine damage:) If thats ok, could possible be a faulty oil pressure switch:)
