The console or remotes?

    Hi peoples,

I took my Wii out of the drawer for the first time in three months.

I tried to turn the remote on, but nothing. Changed the batteries, still nothing. Went to the shop and bought fresh batteries. Nothing is coming up.

I was sure it was the remote. Then I tried a second remote, with new batteries and that one isn't working!

The WII is coming on and working perfect, but it still seems strange that both remotes stop working after they were kept in good condition.

    Has anyone got any ideas?

Re-Synchronise them. Inside the battery cover, the little red button. Same thing inside the falp on the front of the Wii. Press both and you should be flyin.

I've tried that couple of minutes ago and still nothing. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I'm pretty stumped so. Got anyone else that has a Wii that you could try their remotes on your console and yours on theirs? That'll get to the bottom of it fairly quickly.

It might be that your sensor bar is damaged? and not picking up the signal rather than your remotes themselves being damaged...............it would seem strange that both are not working.

You can get replacement ones on dealextreme, though I can't vouch for the quality.

I got the wireless one at the same time that I bought the Wii. I've been using it ever since. I took the wired one out and tried it for the first time. I kept it safely in the box in the attic and it still won't work. Just like the remotes, it seems strange for two to break at the same time.

@niallon: My cousin who lives in Kildare lol. I might just bring it to a console repair show and see if they can fix it.

I'm still perplexed, as it seems unlikely for two to stop working, but even by pressing a button, the blue lights don't flash.

It does sound like a sync problem, have you had a few goes at Syncing? I dug my balance board out after about 6 months and took an age before I finally sync'd it. I managed to undo the sync on all four of my remotes in the mean time.

Its weird that the blue lights don't flash on your remotes. Are the batteries definitely good? Zinc Chloride don't always get the job done.

Bit of a strange one, good luck with it.

The sensor bar doesn't pick up ANYTHING. It is only a little array of IR LED lights. The Wii Remote picks up the IR lights, and the console picks up the information from the remote.

If the lights don't come on at all, then there's a problem with either the batteries you're using, or the remotes themselves. I'd say it's the batteries that you're using though. If it's rechargables, you'd want to have 2500 (or at least 2000+ ones) and if it's normal batteries, get the high power lights that are made for high drain electrical stuff.

If lights arent comming on on the remote it has to be the remote(s)

Did you leave batteries in it for the 3 months? Did they leak?

The console can have problems if you try to synch multiple remotes at the same time. Try doing one remote at a time. Sounds like it's just a synching issue.

Not if the remotes aren't even flashing the blue lights Retr0gamer...

I got it working everyone. I had to do a bit of tinkering with the remotes and another set of fresh batteries done the trick.

Thanks for all the replies everyone!
