Like I said above, bought Lenovo S10e off them a month ago with no issues at all, was painless using Google Checkout to get delivery to Ireland, was my first time using that function and first time using eBuyer. All went fine so no issues with recommending them from me.

Cant believe my luck. OH's laptop broke (power jack broke and i know from experience its better to just buy a new one). For under €200 would this be worth a punt. is it a good netbook?

Its worth it. I got this with an 8gb SSD drive and only 512mb of ram from power city for €279. Even that was worth it
You can akways stick XP on later if you have a license :D

Still available on Expansys for those not liking eBuyer,

    Here

Exact same specs I believe except in Pearl White.

Voucher Code : SUMMER09 for €10 off total, still more expensive at €205 delivered but still not bad at all.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks back in HN (after a bargain alert here) and am very happy with it. I actually use it all the time instead of a full size laptop I have. Only issue is with the battery life and no bluetooth, I would be doing well to get 90 mins out of the battery - its the 3 cell battery i think. On the hunt for a 6 cell now.
To fix the bluetooth problem i bought a few tiny use bluetooth adaters from Dealextreme which work perfectly. The laptop fits in the case with the bluetooth adapter connected to the usb so I will never have to take that out. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11866 for the bluetooth usb devices. They cost less than $2.50 incl postage and arrived within a week of shipping.

I also installed Windows 7 which from my epxerience with my other laptop uses a lot less power than Vista.

Bit of a retarded question, I'm sure, but will this give same quality as a hdmi connection?

Also, was going to use it instead of a network adapter for my xbox 360 - does anyone know if it'll work or would I have to install windows first...?

    Nope, VGA is analog.

    HDMI / DVI is digital.

TBH while VGA is analogue and DVI / HDMI is digital, there's no major difference and you certainly won't notice it.

VGA supports 720p / 1080p and higher just like DVI, the mechanisms in which they send the signal are different but it's more or less the same end result even though DVI should be technically better.

Thanks for the link. They're a nice handy little thing, those netbooks but they're not a direct replacement for a laptop IMHO. They're great if you want to have something small to throw in a bag and check your email/surf the net in a wi-fi area if you're running around. But if you want to do other things, it's going to be a bit tougher because the screen's so small.

Just a note even though I bought one from ebuyer already. These seem to be clearing now everywhere at €199 seen them in Harvey Norman and Currys.

Can these be bought with XP Pre installed?

Yes I'm sure they can but at more expense.

It's easy to put Xp on afterwards anyway;)

Is that price not for the SSD version? While this might tickle some people fancy, 16GB's is just not enough for me personally.

Is it just a case of throwing in the Windows disc that came with our current desktop? Also do you need to remove Linux - before or after? Cheers.

Yep that'll work but you'll need to throw it into an external usb cd/dvd drive.
