We stayed in Andels hotel both times we were there, not right in the old town but right next door to an underground and tram station so very handy for getting around.

There's a good few Irish pubs, Rocky Reily's is one, ok but a bit tacky. There's another in the area below the castle which is nicer, think it was called Murphy's.

why bother going away if you just want to find irish bars?

Did you never hear the expression different strokes for different folks? If the guy wants help on Irish Pubs I really don't think there's a ned to question what he does on his holidays, everyone to their own like! ;)

Went to an Irish Cuban bar and it was more expensive than Dublin! I usually have a look into one at least. They're always the most expensive place around.
Prague is a great city, just walking around looking at the buildings is great! Same as any place, just go off the main squares for cheaper booze.

There are a good few Irish bars there, but to be honest, they aren;t fantastic and they are pretty expensive.
But there are lots and lots of beer gardens, bavarian style ones, and a few bars like the "Dogs Bo***x" that i thought where really nice. wenceslas square is pretty cool, but it turns pretty seedy late at night, strip bars, and we were offered the services of a brothel by one Irish lad !! we declined politely.
The czech bars are great, and prices really range, obviosly the more touristy the area, the more expensive. But definatly try them out when you are there, there are loads around.
Also you can a mile or two out of the center of the city, just south of the old town, but within walking distance for really good value, think we paid 50 euros for a pretty nice hotel each night

You'll love prague. 8 of us went over last February. It was just like a stag weekend pure sloppy the whole way through. Theres a main streer in Prague , I cant remember what its called but it looks like O Connell Street. This is where you will find the best Irish bar. "The Shamrock".
Another Irish bar "rocky o reillys" is nearby but its not great.
Also on that street is Duplex, which is a 5 story night club - each floor with different type of music. r'n'b , techno , electro etc . and the place is full of stipclubs and knockin shops ! youll have a ball
We were gonna go back, but we decided to go to Amsterdam instead. I started a thread below about amsterdam trying to learn stuff , same as u !

Go to Eurostar Thalia for your hotel...its 3 minute walk to the main part and its a 4star and dirt cheap ! very good !

There's a map on their website, if you zoom out on it you will see where it is in relation to Praha 1 which is the old town and Hradcany which is the castle district. Like I said though there 's no need to walk anywhere really as there's a good tram and underground system.

The hotel itself is lovely, very modern and clean but it's three years since I stayed there so you might want to check tripadvisor for some more recent reviews.

I was in both Budapest and Prague last week and both cities are great, I preferred Budapest as it was new to me, I had been to Praha before so my way around it and stuff. Prague is a great city although a pricey if you don't wander away from the touristy areas. Václavské náměstí (Wenceslas Sq.) is in the heart of the city and if wonder around there all the time you will not get a great feel for the city.

It was pretty cold when I was there and my advice is pack alot of dark clothing to blend in with the locals as like the rest of Europe they dress down alot over the autumn-winter-spring. The Palladium Mall in Namesti Republicky is a good shopping place also. The crown is quite weak now and the excahnge rates in Prague are far better than what our Irish rip-off banks are giving. Also on the Metro they have begun spot checking for tickets something I had not seen there last time out. Best bet is to buy a 3 or 5 day ticket and validate it once in the stamping machine at the entrance as keep it with you.
