Just thought I'd share in the hope that a) it won't freak out people in the early days who might get it later on and b) anyone who has already been there can give tips...
I woke up in the middle of the night last night with HORRIFIC leg cramp, leg totally siezed up, and I was in horrific pain for about ten minutes... scary . But seemingly this is common in later pregnancy (the joys!) so the good old Mam was phoned first thing this morning and she told me to buy some tonic water and sip it throughout the day as it helps. Wierd with out the gin! Anyone else ever get this??? Ouch.

hiya..god i know that pain i used to get it a couple times a week have been given the tip of the tonic water too, and another friend suggested having a glass of milk before bed as its a sign of calcium deficency... now i dont know how true but since ive been taking the milk at night ive had no problems. Hope it improves for you!

I had this in my last pregnancy and got the first of this pregnancy last night. Stood up straight away, hands against the wall and stretched the leg back with my foot on the floor - thankfully it went very quickly after doing this. But the screams of me when i woke up i am sure i must have woke all the neighbours.

I was told it was a lack of potassium and bananas are supposed to help. Unfortunately i cant stomach bananas at the momment so will try the tonic water.

    Its really painful..
I heard calcium is good, too much salt is bad, and make sure your feet won't get cold.
I have to wear socks even when weather is nice otherwise I will get that cramp next morning. If not, I can feel my legs not circulated well.
I'll try tonic water too. Why tonic water? Does anyone know?

i got these too when i was pregnant. Omg i never felt anything like it. I found if you stretched your leg while pointed your toe down its almost instant relief. :)
