Killzone 2 Problem

Hey guys,
I'm just wondering if anybody else has had this problem.
The last level of killzone 2 won't load on my ps3, i brought the game back to the shop and got them to give me a new copy just incase it was a fault with the disc but i'm still having the problem.
I've downloaded all the latest updates for the game and the console but all i get is a blank screen and some audio!!
It's really annoying me so any help would be really sweet!

when i was playing it i downloaded an update for it, and it started to hang on me. so i just deleted the update, works sound now.

This wasn't on the last level though, probably second or third last.

Possibly a fault with your blu ray drive. Bear with me here as my reasoning is sound but a bit far fetched.
I had a problem with watching Ratatouille on Bluray on my PS3. Every time it got to a certain point in the movie it would freeze. I changed the disc for a new one and had the same problem. Tried the disc in a friend's PS3 and it played through with ne'er a pause. From reading up, it seems that a bad BR drive can have trouble with the transition between layers on the disc (they are dual layer discs with 20-25GB per layer). It also became apparent that few enough BRs and games actually use more than one layer's worth of storage, as Ratatouille was the only disc that gave me any sort of trouble.

My PS3 was only about two months old so I brought it back to Game and they gave me a new one. Problem solved.

All I can suggest is you rent or borrow Ratatouille on Bluray and watch for the bit where Colette is telling Remy about some of the kitchen staffs' histories. There's a bit where somebody comes through the swinging kitchen doors, that's where mine would freeze everytime.

Certainly up there with the weirdest post on killzone 2. At least now i have an excuse to watch Ratatouille. My ps3 is over 2 years old now so i'm screwed if it's what you yhink it is. Thanks for the advice anyway.

Do a bit of research. I'm sure I've heard of people getting PS3s repaired by Sony out of warranty as a goodwill gesture, trying to save themselves the sort of bad press that the RROD got for Microsoft.

Edit: Actually the sale of goods act should be enough. Reasonable use for a €400 console should see more than two years out of it.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I also have a problem with Killzone 2 and didn't want to start a new one.

I'm at the last part of the last level in the room with Radec and have to kill all the soldiers first. It was working fine until today when I downloaded the latest update. I've already completed the game but I'm doing it again so the level was fine the first time round.

Basically the problem is that half of the ground floor is missing in that it's invisible and you just see the sky (don't ask me how that works) but you could still walk on it but then only two soldiers come out with radec and when they're killed no one else comes out so I can't get to the next part. Happen to anyone else?
