what is better. intel dual core or core 2 duo. i dont understand the difference.


what sort of spec should i look for in a lappy these days??

Both are dual core but Core 2 Duo' s are the faster series of dual core chips.

A quick assessment of you based on that 1 post above, 3gb will do ya. Im guessing you just want it for the web, some word processing, nothing too fancy, am I right? And im gonna guess you'd be keeping your laptop for years and years, not changing it every 2 years or so.

Anything more then 3Gb wont be used on XP or Vista (generally). They are 32bit operating systems, and some calculations and some computer technicalities and your left with a maximum of about 3.5Gb of ram. So if you pop in 4Gb, it will only be able to use ~3.5Gb, so effictivly its a waste of money. They dont tell ya that when your buying it though!

So yeah, A 2Ghz Core 2 duo (or better) and 3 ghz of ram. Throw in a hard drive and a 15" screen and dell will do ya one for about €500 I think.

Not true, Intel Dual Core Processors are just striped down version of Core 2 Duos.
