    http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/road/1_series/15/

    It's a Trek 1.5 - I really just wanted to know if it's any good. It looked really cool and I kind of bought it on an impulse! It's my first road bike so I expect there to be a big step up from my fat heavy hybrid.

    A bit of background; they had a deal on in work via the Cycle to Work scheme where I could buy a bike and instead of paying with cash, it comes as a tax deduction from your income.

    In total the bike with lock & various extras (bottles, speedometer, foot clips or somesuch etc etc) came to €875. Net of tax at the higher rate I think it costs me around €500. I then pay this over twelve months so it comes in at €40 with no finance cost.

    I think this is a pretty good deal no? Now I just have to find some long distance cycles to do!

    Nice bike - great deal.

    I take it you got it on the Cycle to Work Scheme?

    You could try here for some cycle routes-

    500 notes for the lot! NICE! :D

    Now, a long cycle, hmmm ... well, there is the Ring of Kerry Cycle on Saturday week (July 4) - perfect for showing off new bikes

    Great bike - I got a similar bike in 2006 as my 1st road bike. a Trek 1000 - ( mine was men's bike ) - the only thing though, is that it's has a standard double, these also come with a triple chainset ( maybe that's what you got ?), and I wish I had got it with it rather than a double at the time.

    looks good, where did you get it? (i.e if i wanted my job to buy it on the cycle to work scheme, which bike shop did your company use?)

    Build a bike are the company they used (http://www.buildabike.ie/). They're based in Maynooth I think but they come out to your office with a bunch of bikes and you can take them for a test drive (outside the office, of course!). It's very hard to resist buying though with all these shiny bikes floating around.

    Trek = Lance Armstrong
    Lance = fight against cancer
    Criticism of Lance = you love cancer

    QED

    Why would you love cancer?

    Enjoy the bike, I have had several Treks myself and they were lovely bikes.
