Doesn't look that great. I wouldn't trust velcro to secure something like that. And it's not exactly the easiest place for you to read it.

I'd say velcro would be fine, it seems to have three sturdy straps, they use velcro to attach stuff to the space shuttle you know.

That is actually quite a common place to put little bags with snacks and stuff in them, I think it is a triathlete thing- this just adds a transparent window... Maybe not the easiest place to read it but easier than your pocket, the only other real alternative would be on the stem- that would be more difficult I reckon unless the gadget was designed from the ground up with bike mounting in mind.

    Whatever about securing it/visibility...
i previously used my iphone a fair bit when on spins...but em you wouldn't want to rely on using google maps on it outside of any city, even the gps(being A-GPS) it'll be rather useless in wicklow or mostly any time you'd probably want it...

So if all you hang around the city(and don't go up howth, plenty of signal black spots there), and don't go for long spins(it'll suck the battery lots) it might be useful if it'll stay there and you can see it at that angle easily?

I recently got a Krusell BikeHolderKit and I have to say its very good. With the case itself you get a detachable belt holder with a button it to detach the phone and the case itself. On the back of the case you can attach different mounts, the one that comes with it will allow the phone to be detached and swivelled in the belt holder. (the belt clip stays on your belt but the phone can be removed by pressing the releace button it)

The actual bike mount will attach to the handle bars and can be rotated as needed. This is compatible with the case above and is designed in such a way that even if you use the circular(swivel) attachment on the rear of the phone, it will not turn. However, this doesnt work too well when the phone isn't vertical or on rough terrain and the phone will rotate a bit.

If you pick up one of these, which fits directly to the back of the phone and into the holder, the phone will be secure and won't rotate.
