Samsung LE32B450 & DTT

Ok, so got a Samsung LE32B450 and connected it to a UHF Log Periodic Aerial in the attic.

The aerial is mounted on a pole in the attic about 4-5 foot from floor level, and vertically positioned.

Took a while of adjustments to pick up DTT, but seemed to after moving the aerial around the attic a bit to different locations.

Once it was set-up and working, there was around a 2-3 second lag when displaying the picture on RTE1, RTE2, and TV3, it was around 10 seconds on TG4.

Anyway, it is a bedroom TV so I could live with that, however went up this evening turned it back on, and got a "No / Weak Signal" message.

Is it just a case of a little more tweaking ? Analogue is also tuned into, but quite fuzzy.

Aerial is connected to a diplex connector along with a sat feed to a diplex socket in the bedroom, however as it worked fine earlier, I am assuming this is not the issue.

Any tips on my first aerial/DTT outing ??? I am located in the Balbriggan, Skerries, Rush, area.

    Thanks !

Switch to a dtt channel at the lcd, open the technical menu with the numbers for signal strength and signal quality and adjust the aerial till you get the best numbers.

Ok, so I checked the TV again this morning, and still a Weak/No Signal message. So up into the attic again, and turned the aerial a complete 360 and still nothing, switched to horizontal and done the same still nothing???

So my attic is insulated and plasterboarded - so there was a section mid way down where I had removed a section of plasterboard exposing rafters, and esstentially slates. I stuck the aerial partially in there on the horizontal roughly pointing south-east, and got signal.

At the moment the TV signal info is (not really sure what this means? :o):

    Frequency: 794000 KHz
    Multiplex: (TSID 03e9, ONID, 2174)
    Network: RTENL (ID 3201)
Bit Error: 0-3 (seems to fluctuate between 0->3)
    Signal Strength: 55

    Service ID:

    RTE1 044d
    RTE2 044e
    TV3 044f
    TG4 0450

So pointing roughly north on the vertical to Louth does not seem to be happening?

Is it just my attic insulation thats the issue ? Aerial or ?

    Thanks again !
