I always hated seeing him line out against the Dubs. I guess that indicates just how good a player he was. Best of luck to you MFR.

I think he was definatley one of the top players over the past 10 - 15 years. Great skill and a class finisher. Good luck to ya Mike Frank

A class act, on and off the field.

    Achieved everything in the game.

Minor, U21 and Senior AI's. Schools, Sigerson Cup, All Star.

Class player tremendous servent to the county.

Fantastic player and can't understand why he got so little game time in the last 2-3 years, could kick off both feet which is a rareity in today's game. Can remember clearly his first big championship game for Kerry, came on as sub against Cavan in '97 semi final, scored 1-1 and put Kerry back in the driving seat. If only Limerick had a forward like him, we'd have at least one Munster title in the bag now.

Best of luck to him, he's a credit to his county and the game.

He broke my heart in '97 the bastid! A great player but I'll always cringe when I see him!

That said, he's a loss to the game. Although I don't think he has ruled out being back in 2010.

I think it is is crazy that Jack O Connor hasn't approached him to be a starter for Kerry seen as how stale Kerry have got.Teams like Cork,Tyrone and Dublin are so used to Kerrys predictable forward line and this is where I think MFR could have come in alongside Gooch.

Maybe he is not a part of O Connor's plans or maybe he got fed up of the running of the team after the Cork defeat and opted out. He's a huge loss to Kerry and was underutilised the last 3 years.I think he would have been a perfect candidate for s starting position along with some new, young players in the qualifiers.

Kerry and O Connor have missed the boat in my opinion.
