Just wondering, if i download a film say, and its in rar format what do i need to open these files or how do i do it please..... any help in simple language would be great, thank you in advance

WinRAR but theres plenty of programs that do it too

Free trial (that lasts forver). Install it. Extract the RAR. Go on with life.

If there's a bunch of them .rar, r01,r02, etc just double click the .rar one, and extract the file.
