The MM's scroll-ball is notorious for giving problems. It's just badly designed tbh. Apple need to make it easier to dismantle and clean. Some good advice in the links above for cleaning it, which you should do regularly or else you'll be forking out for another one before long. Always wash your hands before using it.

Mine's still working but I got sick of cleaning it all the time and swapped it for a Logitech MX Revolution. I don't think I could ever go back to the MM now.

Apple's mice have never been exactly durable. I must have gone through three of their old "Pro" mice.

I'm on my 4th MM, wont be going back to it once it dies again, which I'm sure it will.

    Hi,

I have found that the only way to clean the mouse is to take it apart and clean it properly. You would be surprised at the amount of gunk in the scroll ball housing. You can see here how to do it

Rubbing it upside down on a sheet of paper with alcohol will work for a while, but eventually it will stop scrolling. When reassembling the base, use only two tiny spots of glue to secure the plastic ring, to make it easier to remove in future.

The Mighty Mouse is consistently terrible. I've had 3 in the last 18 months, none of them go more than 3 months without the scrollwheel problems starting.

The best way to fix it is turn it upside down and rub it back and forth on a piece of A4 paper. But don't push too hard, one time I ended up with a Mighty Mouse that would only right click.

Anyway, I have since given up on them and I now have a Microsoft mouse, of all things, which is a good 9 months old and hasn't broken once.

I got rid of mine and replaced it with a nice Logitech MX518 for €25 from Ebay.

Is a Mighty Mouse worth the money, for the new MacBook? (for making flash movies, etc). I find the trackpad annoying from time to time.

The new macbook trackpads are lovely to use. I used to always want a mouse for working for a good while but i now generally leave the mouse unplugged.

i would go with a cheap optical mouse if I were buying one, not the mighty mouse,

No, get a different kind of mouse. The Mighty Mouse scrollball will break.

I had to ditch mine as it would jagger and the cursor would jump every now and again.
As others did I ended up with a microsoft mouse which has been working fine ever since.

I got sick of opening and cleaning the mighty mouse. I got a magic mouse instead, and it is a pleasure to use. Check it out on the Apple site.
