Probably ask the guys over on the Programming forum about this I would say. I think your looking to 'forecast' future results more so than produce them from historic events.

The idea I'm sure has been done before many times and it is possible to do just a lot depends on the data your getting and how accurate it is/you want to be?

I know you would probably like to get the most likely results ie. if horse A has ran this rate the past 2 years and came 3rd and then 2nd will it come first this year? You would have to take a lot of things into consideration from jockey and horse to weight, injuries, ground condition, horse form, jockey form etc not only for this duo but for all that will race.

A data nightmare...there are guys that have spent whole life times figuring this sort of stuff out in there heads and you want to put it in an access database? good luck!

ha no i just want something relatively simple! just the basic race details, runners, riders, trainers, weight, type, distance, ground, winning distances etc. i'm not looking for in depth statistical analysis or anything like that.
