My mate just got COD:WOW for Xbox 360. What I want to do is set up a game online (TDM) where both of us are in the same game and on the same team if ya know what I mean?

I've seen it done before but havn't had much joy trying to get it sorted in the past few minutes. I've added him to my party in the 'pre-game' lobby if you will, then clicked find match, but he seems to be getting 'kicked out' amost, and it's only me that goes on to find a match on my own.

Anyone able to tell me how it's done?

What you're doing is essentially correct, it's just that your connection isn't good enough to get both of you through.

Try the other way round (you join his game, and let him do the searching) or if that doesn't work, one of you go into a game and the other person can go to their profile and click on "join session in progress". You might not end up on the same team as each other immediately but after a game or two you should.

When you're both eventually on the same team, press start, go to "create/join squad" and then "create squad". You will then be known as squad Alpha or Beta or Charlie etc. Get the other person to do the same but instead of "create squad" they go to "join squad" and "join squad alpha or beta etc."

The 2 of you will stay paired up from then on.

if that doesn't work, one of you go into a game and the other person can go to their profile and click on "join session in progress".

I tried this after the other way didn't work, but there was no option to 'join session in progress', even when he was talking to me on the headset and he said that the lobby wasn't full!?
