I see they've put up the list of schools that are scheduled to receive a 100Mbit/s connection:
    http://www.dcenr.gov.ie/Press+Releases/Post-Primary+Schools+nationwide+to+receive+High-Speed+Broadband.htm

Two of them are on Inis Mór and Inis Oírr in Galway and another two are also on islands in Donegal (Toraí and Árainn Mhór). How are they planning on implementing this? I doubt they are going to lay undersea fibre so I'm assuming some sort of License microwave spectrum. Opinions?

Im sure they'll use radios like WIMAX, this can handle up to 300mbs and habe dual radios etc.. Under water fibre is not needed if you have line of site up to 130km..

Great to see this happening. May it continue. The one I attended on that list got a new building but each machine seemed to have a max download speed of 600 kbps but this should make for a big improvement.
