    Hi,
Had law down as my first choice in ucc but im very doubtful now as to wheather or not i managed the 500 points :( I heard that apparantly you can do commerce and master in law or something and come out with more or less the same degree as someone who did law, is this true? Apparantly someone at 1 of uccs school visits told some leaving student that it could be done. Has anyone done this and does anyone know for sure? If so what does it involve and do you have to do an extra year or something like that? Any help appreciated, i only have a few days left to change my choices, thanks

You could major in commercial law with a commerce degree i think which would be one part of a law degree. If you dont like business though i wouldnt persevere through a 4 year degree just to do a law module.
    This link might help

Might you consider doing something like Law and German?

In first, second and third year you do one law subject. If you choose to major in law you study at least four law subjects and two others of your choice from either law or the other discliplines such as economics or marketing etc.

Thanks for yer replies, unfortunatly i didnt do german for the lc so thats not an option, so if i did do commerce as ye were saying id be covering all the areas of law at some stage so would I be able to use this then to enter the law society and be at a similar level to those who did law alone?

Well you could do law and french if you didnt do german. You wouldnt be covering all the areas of law with a commerce degree. For example you wouldnt be studying criminal law. If you majored in law with a commerce degree you would be at a similar level to someone who has majored in commercial law from a law degree as far as i know.

Law and French is higher than straight law. If you did Commerce, you'd only hit the businessy side of things. There's a postgrad in UL that I think is either one year or two, so you could do that after. But make sure you put law down as your number one, if thats what you want to do, even of you dont think you got the points!

    +1

If you have an interest in Law and Business then why not chance Corporate Law in NUIG?

    Points are around 430...
