For hurling I would've gone for Limerick against Waterford in the 2001 Munster semi final. After 15 minutes Waterford were winning by 2-6 to 0-1. By the end of the game Limerick won by 4-11 to 2-14. Absolutely shocking from our point of view to concede 4 goals when we were winning by 11 points, but fair play to Limerick all the same.

But sure yer full back line conceding 4 goals is nothing new ;-) I do think Clem Smith being introduced to do a ''job'' on John Mullane certainly helped turn the tide, becos Mullane and Paul Flynn were rampant for the first 20 mins of that game.

True that. That was Mullane's debut as well iirc, so he wasn't the player he is now, but Flynn was really in his prime. It was an absolute sickener of a result from our point of view though. This was still back in the days of no back doors for teams that failed to reach Munster/Leinster finals, and even though we had a very good set of players, we were knocked out at the first hurdle the two previous years.

Taking that 11 point lead against you guys really made us think this would finally be the year we'd make a real crack at the All-Ireland, and yet 50 minutes later that was it for another year. Certainly that was one of my lowest ebbs as a Waterford supporter.

You weren't knocked out at the first hurdle in '99, you beat us by a point in PUC that year, think Cork beat you in the semi. Mullane's debut yes, think Brian Geary was marking him and just couldn't cope with him (hard to imagine him as a corner back!) so Smith was sent on to marshall him. Yep i think there were a lot of desolate Déise fans that day, my cousin is married to a Waterford fanatic from Dungarvan, after that match he didn't speak to her until the following Tuesday :-D Shellshock would be a word i'd use to describe his mood! Still, i'm sure the team used it as the catalyst for their Munster title victory the next year.

waterford's comeback in the all ireland final last year would have been the greatest comeback ever, only we ran out of time:p

To be fair, you could have been playing till the following Sunday and you still wouldn't have got near KK ;-) No team would have. And no team will either this year, although Tipp do have an outside chance.

I may be a bit biased but the Offaly Limerick All Ireland Final of 1994. Losing by 5 points with 5 minutes to go. Up steps Johnie Dooley to fire the ball to the net, then followed by another quick fire goal from substitute Pathrick Connors. Offaly ran out 6 point winners in the end and were scoring points from all angles before the whistle went. A truly remarkable changearound, 11 points scored in 5 minutes.

    Unfortunately,a lot of the football comebacks have been against Dublin.The Dublin-Meath saga in 91,Dublin v Kildare Leinster Final 2001,Dublin v Laois 2003,Dublin v Tyrone 2005 quarter final,Mayo 2006 semi.

Fortunately we did have our own comebacks against Kerry in 2001 and 2007 with 2007 coming a bit too late.I quite liked our comebacks against Meath and Wexford in 2005.

Hurling has to be Offaly v Limerick.

I'll start this off, there's a few you could mention....

    HURLING

Offaly V Limerick - 1994 All Ireland Final

Limerick V Tipperary - 2007 Munster SF Replay

This is the winner for me, Limerick scored 7 points (no goals) in 9 mins which is incredible having played second fiddle to Tipp for large chunks of the game.

Defintely these two. At the 1994 all-ireland final I had a few lads I knew from limerick that went to that match. Sure, didn't they leave towards the end to go celebrate in the pub. Oh, they were fair pissed off when they found out..

    :pac:

Not going there, shudders, before being led away by men in white coats muttering Meath...

My own personal favourite would have to be the '91 munster final replay Tippv Cork in the stadium, something like 9 or 10 point down at one stage Tipp came roaring back and to this day every time I see Aidan Ryans clinching goal with half the terrace spilling onto the pitch it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand*.

*the comeback in the drawn game wasnt bad either.

Has to be Limerick-Offaly for hurling, no contest in my lifetime anyway. Wexford-Meath's a great shout in football, wouldn't have thought of that one. Or yes, Mayo-Dublin

What kind of clown leaves Croker with their team about to win the All-Ireland just to be at the top of the queue for the first pint? Serves them right.

Thousands from Offaly left croker that day thinking they lost and thousands from Limerick left thinking they won. We really made ****e of it that day. The short quick puck-out after the offaly goal killed us. Our goalie put it into our midfielders hand and he made a balls of it and offaly got another point iirc.

That loss didn't hurt as bad as 96 though.

For me it's the day down in Cork in 01. After beating Cork in the first round I thought it was going to be another wasted year. i remember after the fourth goal my father threw me up into the air in the stand. We were sitting right behind the Limerick subs aswell. It was some day. Replay against Tipp wasn't bad either on the Saturday evening in 07. It was a great way to break up the monotony of the Leaving cert anyway

Ya would have to be the Limerick-Offaly final

One to note would be Offaly-Clare semi-final in '98. The comeback was so great they didnt even have to draw level to earn a replay.

I was on the hill that day in 1994, a black day

Limerick have quite a few comebacks, V Tipp in 1996 Munster final, V Waterford in 2001, V Tipp (twice) in 2007

It wasn't a great comeback in terms of being down by a large score but the last minute smash and grab culminating in careys hail mary point against Clare in the Gaelic Grounds in 1996 stands out

In the football i forgot to mention Cork V Kerry in last years Munster Final. At 8 points up at half time, all the RTE pundits were predicting an even bigger margin of victory for Kerry. Then Cork brought on Cussen in the second half and the rest is history.

    I know, plonkers.
    But maybe they were thirsty?

I was at the '94 Final, first time in Croker. Will always remember my old fella trying to get me to leave early (he never does), and me wanting to stay. I got my way, and I don't let him forget it!

His favourite comeback is probably Cork/Tipp Munster Final '84. Seanie O'Leary and Tony Sull goals broke Tipp hearts that day. He maintains Tipp fans who left early asked him when he got on the train asked how much did they win by...

    Ahh good times.
