apparently, they can reproduce from 3-4 months. They can produce 4-7 litters a year,
One pair of mature rabbits are able to produce 30-40 rabbits

Seems to be a lot of mixie rabbits around this year.
I was out last week and shot 8 4 of them had pus filled lumps and weren't moving fast.
Put me off the rest for eating.

My patch was myxied out last year - the little buggers were wiped out. Very few around this year - but they seem healthy.

They have lumps on them sometimes pus filled eyes, slow moving and not responsive to being shot at.
There is no transfer to humans, not sure about dogs or ferrets but I think myxi is solely a rabbit disease.
Not very appetising but not harmful to humans.

No mixie here, the place is alive with grazer's, it's so bad the farmer's are laying down poison.

thats a fairly depressing pic alright, round here was fairly decimated with mixy for a decade, now thankfully thay are making a comeback, and they all seem bright perky and sparkly eyed!

Apprently Myxy is a soil borne pathogen as well, that can stay dormant for years in a area, and any bunnies that return to burrow around, will be contaminated.Another Godawful idea for controlling nature that has gone seriously wrong.:(

I was out walking my dogs along the Boyne yesterday evening and saw a good few bunnies - all in great shape. There hasn't been a rabbit along this particular bank for years but they're making a comeback.
I'll have to bring the gun on the next trip.:)
